What is One Quiet Little Life?

Once you reach a time in your life where you have some serious life experiences under your belt, I believe you reach the point where you must have a little bit of a reckoning with yourself.  A point where you sit down and really consider what it is you have done, where you are now and where you would like to go in the future.  Not only a fleshing out of who you are, but also an acceptance (and hopefully peace) of this amazing person you call yourself.  This can happen at many points in your life, but for me this has happened solidly in my 40’s.  I have ignored, denied, been paralyzed by fear, reluctantly, affectionately termed this my Midlife Re-Do.  It has been a process to say the least.  As a result, I have been developing my personal philosophy, self-guidance if you will, which boils down to those 4 simple words: One Quiet Little Life.

One – An acknowledgement that there is just one life we are given.  This life is, simultaneously: the same as everyone else (we have a collective shared human experience) and as individual as you are (your life experiences are unique and make you unique).

Quiet – Most struggles are internal, waging a silent battle.  And for myself, as more of an introverted personality, that it is ok to live a life that is not loud and attention grabbing.

Little – We are so small in the time we are given, within the place we live, within the world itself.  To notice that most worthwhile things we experience generally are not big and splashy but when we feel connected to ourselves and others.

Life – A reminder that we are only given today.  And that today is the only day where life happens.

Welcome to my one quiet little life.  Yours as well. Ours together.
